Background of Lake Seneca

Welcome and thank you for your interest in beautiful Lake Seneca, One of Northwest Ohio's best kept secrets!

Our lake community was established in 1965 with the damming of the St. Joe River, creating a 270-acre all-sports lake. Today, Lake Seneca boasts 1,417 lots, with some still available for purchase. While most lakefront lots have been sold and developed, we offer several off-water lots with deeded lake access, so you’re always just a short walk or golf cart ride from the water. Around the lake, recreational areas provide dock rentals for non-lakefront residents, and our private beach features 600 feet of sandy shoreline, complete with water and beach toys for kids, as well as sails for shade on hot summer days. Additional amenities include playground equipment, volleyball, basketball, and pickleball courts, plus a large open-air pavilion available for rent to members. Just up from the beach, the Compass Café & Store—open to the public—serves great food, grocery items, beer, wine, and offers a full menu and bar. Fishing enthusiasts will love LSPOA, with crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish, and perch available whether from a boat or one of our docks, as well as a dedicated fishing pond with easy shoreline access. Spacious lots, light weekday lake traffic, and abundant wildlife—including eagles, foxes, geese, deer, and blue herons—make this a perfect place to enjoy the water or explore the nature trail.

Our lots are spacious, and lake traffic is moderate with minimal traffic during the week. Wildlife is abundant...Eagles, Fox, Geese, Deer, and Blue Heron are just some of which you may see here while either on the lake or enjoying a little hike through the nature trail. If you make it through the nature trail and are in need of other trails, the Back 40 has paths with different trails you can walk or ride to enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the lake life with the feeling of being in the country. Golf carts, UTV's, and ATVs as well as many other motorized vehicles are welcome here. We simply ask that you register at the LSPOA Office and get a flag for your UTV, ATV, golf cart etc.  Please stay on the roadways and follow the posted speed limits and obey traffic laws. In order to maintain our lake area and its beauty we have By-Laws, Deed Restrictions, and Rules that are available on our website or at the office for you to view.

Our Lodge is the meeting place for our Annual Members Meeting as well as Monthly Board Meetings. The lodge is also available for rent by members for graduation, birthdays, baby showers, or any other event you may have. The lodge is air conditioned, has a small kitchen area, small sound system, as well as plenty of parking and is located directly across from the beach. Lake Seneca Property Owners Association, LSPOA, operates the lake on a modest budget. Volunteers, including all board members and trustees, manage the lake and surrounding areas. Our volunteers help to keep our costs down to make it more affordable to live here. Our private boat launch is only accessible by our community members that are in good standing, therefore, our lake is not overcrowded.

Our events committee offers a variety of fun activities for both adults and children.  IF you follow the Members only Facebook page you will see updated events that the events committee has worked hard to plan, as well as the events and specials the Compass has to offer. The beach is a clean and inviting spot to relax, conveniently located next to the playground. Lake Seneca has amenities that makes this a great place to live, whether you want to be right on the water, or live off the lake and almost have the country living experience LSPOA is the place to be. LSPOA is a small community that looks out for each other and cares for one another.
